1. From the pastor, to beloved Gayle, whom I truly love. 2. My dear one, above all else I pray that you are doing well and are in good health, the same as you are doing spiritually. For I was mighty happy when some brothers got here with news about your truth-life and how committed you are to it. Nothing pleases me more than to hear that my chillun are walking in the truth. 5. My loved one, you’re really on the beam when you lend a hand to the brothers, even though they may be strangers to you. They spoke about your love at the church meeting. It’s wonderful when you chip in on their expenses so they can travel like men of God. For they launched out for Christ without taking one dime from outsiders. That’s why we ought to get in the harness with such people, that we all might be partners in the truth. 9. I wrote to the church about a matter, but Godbold, who loves to be their big wheel, doesn’t pay us any mind. So when I get there, I’ll review his record of insolent mouthings against us. And as if this weren’t enough, he not only pays no mind to the brothers himself, but he threatens those who do want to, and turns them out of the church. 11. My dear brother, don’t copy evil but good. The man who does good is God’s man; the man who does evil has had no vision of God. 12. People from all over surely do speak highly of Doug Smith; indeed, the facts speak for themselves. And we’re glad to add our word to this, and our word, you know, is sincere. 13. I have a lot of things to write to you about, but I’ll not try it on this typewriter. I’m still hoping to see you shortly and we’ll chew the fat then. The friends here send you their love. Give our personal regards to the friends there. Sincerely, see Introduction by Edward A.
